Psychic Development Course, South Calgary June 2012

Do you know you’re “highly intuitive” and would like to develop your abilities? Do you have those spine-tingling moments of discovering you knew about something before it actually happened?  Do you find yourself knowing or “sensing” things about others, only to find that you were correct?

Everyone has “psychic ability”. It’s just more pronounced in some of us than in others. This “sixth sense” is an innate ability to detect danger, to “sniff out” enemies, to keep us forewarned about impending attacks, as a part of our basic survival instincts. Although we are no longer cave-dwellers who need to fight off predators on a daily basis, this natural ability still exists to varying degrees in all of us.

Those of us who are highly sensitive and in tune with the energies around us may pick up information without even trying, while others have to work at it. I discovered my abilities as a child, and after developing them throughout my life, eventually began doing readings for people in person, on the phone, and even by email.

Between 2006 and 2011, I did psychic phone-ins as a frequent guest on Sue Marchant’s evening show on BBC Regional Radio. Approximately once a month, I took calls from listeners across nine counties in the East of England. I tuned into their energy, telling them things they already knew (as confirmation that I was receiving valid information), then proceeded to answer their many and varied questions.

In a way, it seems outrageous that I should be able to connect with people who are elsewhere on the planet, or at the other end of an email. But I know we’re all connected – like individual rays of the same sun, or like one big ball of energy, with bits of it being carried around in these vessels we call our bodies. So I suppose it’s not that weird after all.

As Wayne Dyer says, we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience. Developing your psychic abilities means learning to hear – and to trust – the information that your true ‘self’ – your spirit – is giving you about the people and events in your life.

This workshop will take place on Sunday, June 10, 2012 from 1 -4 pm.

Attendance is strictly limited to six people.

The cost is $50, payable by email Interac transfer (or Paypal as a second choice).

Such simple little words. They don’t look like much, do they? Seven letters. Just seven little letters sitting there, lined up and looking like no big deal. But think of the millions of lives that have been lost throughout the centuries as people have fought raging, bloody, violent battles, just to be able to say those three little words.

How often do you find yourself discussing politics with friends – even in public places where others may hear you? Now imagine being thrown in jail, injured or put to death for it.

How often do you find yourself discussing your religious beliefs – or lack of them – or your new age metaphysical way out there weird spiritual beliefs, without risk of dangerous repercussions?

Have you ever considered the content of many of the television shows or films you watch, or of radio programmes or newspapers? Naughty banter, sexual content, “language”, rebellious and anti-establishment opinions everywhere.

Have you ever considered how wonderful it is to be able to go online and purchase items on ebay or Amazon, or a million other websites, using your credit card or your Paypal account? In some countries – although they have computers, cars, businesses etc. – this is not allowed, such as in India, where almost no one has a credit card – and they do not allow Paypal. No money is allowed into or out of the country via banks either, except, perhaps, by a few of the very most wealthy Indians who can manage to pull some strings.

Have you ever thought about how nice it is to be able to dress for the weather, or for your own personal expression or pleasure, showing as much skin as you like, but in many countries, people (especially women) must remain covered except perhaps for their faces and hands, no matter how blistering the temperatures are?

Have you ever thought about women being able to live their own lives, traveling alone, shopping alone, living alone, driving cars – or even trucks and lorries? In many parts of the world, this kind of life is impossible.

Have you considered how wonderful it is to be able to go out with your friends or your partner, make a decision about what you’re going to do and then just do it? To have the money, the time, the ability to go out for a meal, go to a film, get together for a party? How much richer your life is when you can afford to do these things. Some people, even on our own doorsteps, cannot keep themselves fed, much less go out for a meal.

Have you ever thought about how wonderful it is to have a home? A place where you can put all your “stuff”? A place to come in at the end of the day, put your feet up, turn on some tunes, see what’s in the fridge and on the telly, and know that you are safe? There will be many people just a stone’s throw from you who live on the street, or in sparse, dirty, cold, crowded or otherwise very unhappy and undesirable circumstances.

Have you ever considered leaving your partner? Taking a class? Turfing your job and finding a whole new career? Moving to a completely new place, just because you can? Have you thought about how lucky you are to be able to even contemplate those choices? So many people in the world cannot. Even in our own culture, there will be people who feel trapped and stuck in their situations because of tradition or external influences or fear of the consequences for making such changes. If you are one of those people, there are options, resources where people can help you figure it out. If you are not one of those people, consider yourself to be truly lucky and blessed for having the ability to choose for yourself.

Have you thought about how wonderful it is to check out lots of kinds of music or art? To listen to, or look at whatever you want? To create, to paint, to write, to make music, to enjoy the artistic or creative efforts of anyone, without restriction?

Have you ever thought about how often you get to make your own decisions, decide what you will do for the day, the afternoon, your holiday, the weekend? Perhaps others must be taken into account in the planning – but still, there are many people in the world who do not have this freedom. And sometimes, it is because of their health.

Do you think about the things you are able to do because you are well? – or at least, well enough to have a relatively normal life, without worrying about treatments or side effects or pain, without being confined to bed or a hospital, never knowing when – or if – you will ever get out?

There are millions of other elements to take into consideration. I’m sure I could write for days about the ways in which you could think about those three little words. Those seven letters, so plain and simple, but they give you life. Not just breath and a pulse – they give you a life that you can love, that you can shape into whatever you want it to be. Those three little words allow you to move mountains. They allow great achievements and accomplishments individually, socially, universally. They have allowed people to stand on the moon, to create bionic body parts, to create miracles on earth.

You are free to think what you want, do what you want, go where you want. You are free to express yourself and be all you were meant to be, stretching yourself as much as you want, reaching for the stars if you so choose.

And no harm will come to you for it.

Now aren’t those three little words among the most powerful on the planet?

I can walk.

No Gravatar

So.  You’re wondering what’s with the title.  Have I been having problems walking lately? Is that why I’m stating the obvious (to anyone who knows I have two legs that are in working order)?

Well, no. And no.

If you, too, are able to get around on your own two legs, think about this for a moment. Yeah, sure, isn’t it a miracle and wow, are you ever lucky and wouldn’t it just suck if you had to be stuck in a wheelchair all day and blah blah blah, right?

We can all do that momentary ever-so-slightly-serious pause where we say how blessed we are or how lucky or whatever. But come on. I mean REALLY – think about this. If you have two usable legs and can get around on your own steam, how often do you take walking for granted?

I would challenge you to get up in the morning, go straight to a chair and sit down. Do not stop to brush your teeth, go to the loo, get dressed, grab that cuppa whatever or a quick bit of breakfast. Just roll out of bed and go and sit in a chair. Or perhaps just stay in your bed.  That’ll work, too.

Then stay there, in your chair (or bed). Pretend you’re stapled to it. You cannot get out of it. Before long, your back teeth will be floating and you’ll be wishing you could get to the loo. It’ll be nasty in your mouth and you’ll be itching to get to some toothpaste. You’ll get awfully thirsty. And hungry. You’ll be wishing you get just dash outside and collect the morning paper from the drive or the lawn, wherever the paper boy chucked it this time.

Now imagine you’re stuck in that chair and there’s no one to help you with any of those things. No one to get you to the toilet. No one to prepare your food, bring you a drink, help you get dressed. Look at your furnishings. Could you even get round your home in a wheelchair? Could you reach your favourite items? Or the necessary ones?

What if you were bedridden? What if you had to lie flat on your back all day and could do nothing at all for yourself?

Now think about all the ways in which you use your legs. You may love walking, running, dancing, hiking, shopping, cleaning, gardening, exercising, bicycling, and a million other things that are either very difficult or impossible if your legs don’t work. Think about how many times you get up and dash here or there through your home, your office, your life without thinking about it.  Your only thought is “I must go here and get/do that.” And off you go to get/do it. You aren’t thinking, “Wow, I’m so lucky my legs work and I can do these things.” No, you’re probably not thinking about that at all.

But you should be. At least a good part of the time, it would be a great idea to contemplate your gratitude for having working legs and for the incredible differences they make to your life and your happiness.

As I’ve been walking through the dry, brown Calgary winter and early spring, bombarded with the noise and smells of traffic, the boring streets and unattractive 1950s cookie-cutter  houses, I cannot help but miss the serenity, the tranquility and the unbelievable beauty of the little lake where I used to walk near my cottage in England. Nor can I help but miss walking in the silence of the quaint little village of Ringstead, which was several hundred years old and loaded with character. It has been most difficult to make this adjustment, along with so many others since moving to Canada 19 weeks and 3 days ago (not that I’m counting…).

So when I set out on my walks, I no longer fight tears. I simply notice how unbelievably lucky I am to be able to put on my shoes and jacket, go outside whenever I want, and walk. I can put one foot in front of the other, unaided, and go wherever I like. I’m free to walk in any direction I choose, for as long as I want, as fast or as slow as I want. I don’t need anyone to help me. I can come and go as I please. Whether I can only walk five steps, five blocks or five miles, I do not need to be sat up, dressed, rolled, wheeled, lifted or in any other way assisted to be able to do it.

Go on. Sit in a chair for those first 20 minutes of your day. Or 30 minutes. Or an hour. See how long you last before you can’t stand it any more and you feel compelled to get up and get going. And then really notice how many times in a day you use your legs without even giving them a thought.

Then see if you’re not also understanding the enormity of those three tiny words: “I can walk.”
